New Data Protection Legislation (GDPR)

The aim of this session is to encourage schools to examine how far they have progressed with the important areas of change required by the new legislation and how compliant they are following its introduction in May this year (2018).

The key areas of discussion will centre on:

-The role of the Data Protection Officer and the practicalities and challenges faced by schools in complying with the requirement to designate a DPO. What solutions are available?

-Incorporating privacy be design – the importance of regular compliance checks

-Individuals rights – are these being protected?

This session will review the key steps taken by schools to prepare for the UK’s new data protection legislation and will outline what a GDPR health check should look like.
